US Postal Savings Bonds
Postal Saving Bonds were issued in lieu of Postal Savings Deposits or Certificates and sold in denominations of $20, $100 and $500. These were issued in both registered and bearer form on January 1st and July 1st of each year. Their maturity was 20 years from the issue date and had an interest rate was 2-1/2 percent.

The issuance of Postal Savings Bonds was discontinued years ago and the securities were replaced with US Savings Bonds in 1935. Upon termination, over 300,000 U.S. Postal Savings Certificates and U.S. Postal Savings Bonds have gone unredeemed.

These unclaimed assets are being held by the Bureau of Public Debt - a Federal Government agency and therefore are not available in state database searches. There is no time limit in which these unredeemed bonds can be recovered. by the bondholder or their heirs..
